David Smith

On my show this month:
Can you believe we are already in the third trimester of 2021? Unbelievable. For my September show I have a lot of new material, including songs from Anika, Vasconcelos Sentimento, Midwife, Wilted Woman, foodman, Piętnastka, and more. We will also hear a great song from an upcoming re-release by Princess Chelsea.
In this month's Historical Highlight, I will give a brief tour of the amazing body of work by Don "Sugarcane" Harris.
Sadly, we lost another musician recently, from the great doo-wop group The Harptones. We will hear a song from them in tribute.
Enjoy the show!

On the show NEXT month:
There is nothing spooky or scary about my October show. No tricks, only treats with a lot of exciting new releases by Hungry Bentley, Mr. Kingpin, Kunst BKK, Ty Segall, Fanfare Ciocarlia, Toad Blood, Gróa, Actors, Alexalone, and NOISE..
In this month's Historical Highlight, we will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the groundbreaking but somewhat forgotten movie "Urgh! A Music War."
But wait, there's more! We also have a Japanese My Bloody Valentine cover and a Russian language cover of a classic ZZ Top song.
Enjoy the show!

Biography:
Hello, my name is David Smith. I grew up in Detroit, Michigan, a perfect place to explore a wide variety of music via live shows and record shops. For the past twenty years I’ve been living in the Washington, DC area.

I've been a rabid collector of music all of my life, with a current collection of around 5,000 CDs and pieces of vinyl, plus uncounted numbers of live bootlegs, digital downloads, and cassettes. I've taken advantage of my world travels to buy records and CDs from all over the world, including the time when I bought a Xalam CD in Dakar, Senegal and nearly started a riot.

My aim at Dandelion Radio is to present an interesting and far-reaching collection of music each month, carefully selected and sequenced like that great mix tape you received from a friend all those years ago.
