Mark Cunliffe - December 2023 Well, there has been a lot going on this year. The world has been, and continues to be in turmoil in so many ways. Music not only charts it all but can provide a degree of escape for some. Music isn't my only outlet but is a big outlet for me, as I'm sure it probably is for plenty of you, too. What has December got in store then? There is more from the world of Jellyfish Punch and DOSS come back with another Glasgow shaped bang. I'm finally including an overlooked Mari Dangerfield track (sorry Mari) and Ukraine's Troye Zillia provide some magic. Mark Whitby - December 2023 Being December, we do our best to feature the best Xmas tunes of the year, including a few highlights from this year's Cherryade album, though the main focus is, as always, on digging out the best new tunes to emerge at the end of the year. In that spirit, we feature new albums from Mutabaruka, Frog, Shackleton and Katy J. Pearson, among others, as well as looking ahead to 2024 releases from Dez Dare and Bob Vylan. We also play three tracks from the new Human Worth compilation and tunes from the live extravaganzas from Cat Power and Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, while leaving room, naturally, to Peel Back... thirty years and play three entries from the 1993 Festive Fifty.

This month's Rocker's Shellac Attack is a 1956 release on the Sun record label out of Memphis, Tennessee, while this month's Educating Elizabeth record is a brand new seasonal release from the Daptone record label. As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: The Basildon Bond brand of writing paper was established in 1911 by John Dickinson & Co. of Hertfordshire. By 1932 it was the best selling brand of writing paper in the UK.

One that has brought us the likes of Bar Italia, Jean Mignon, Frog Power, Strange Dream and too many more to mention. All of these and many more feature in this month's 3 hour show. We also have ... new out of Jakarta, the BRMC sounding "Crayola Eyes" and their fab debut album. A dancefloor killer from Floating Points. Denver's Dead Pioneers who are one of the best punk bands I've heard in eons. The anger is palpable and given the subject matter entirely appropriate and relevant. X-Ray Moon - December 2023 An hour long show from X-Ray this month. There are new tracks from, for example, Daft Punk and Vincent Neil Emerson. There are tracks from 2022, such as the wonderful Bury Me In My Shoes from the marvellously named London-based group TV Priest ... As well as this and more, there are classic avant-garde tracks from CAN and a long-since-forgotten fabulous track by Yoko Ono. All finished off with a Punk Christmas track. For those whose toes are feeling frost-bitten, or whose fingers are numb, and for those who are missing those crazy never-ending poetic sunsets of springtime, this is an X-Ray Moon stocking filler that will butter your toast, mash your parsnips, pull your wishbone, tickle your funny bone, give the dog a bone, and roast your chestnuts (don’t fall asleep too close to the fire Uncle Barnacle).
