The Beatbox Saboteurs Show - July 2019 July marks the 50th Anniversary of the moon landings and we have put together a special show that will surely eclipse anything else out there on the airwaves. As usual we have an astronomical number of fresh tracks - including, Polarized Eyes, easily the youngest band we've ever featured. To balance that, we have a track from The Membranes new album, along with an apt track from our very own TV Themes album. New acts include The Rope, Bvrth, Bollard, Kempt, The Gloomy Killers Club, No Exits, Ipkiss and Skethcy Lines. Loads more too! As promised, there's another wonder from Cellista's intriguing 'Transfigurations' album and our dear, slightly over-dramatic friends, Spray, pop in to drop (that's what the kids say now, isn't it?) a stripped-down version of a tune from their new masterwork. Expect lunacy, great tracks and two DJs steering everything into a massive black hole.

Gareth Jones - July 2019 Here at Dandelion Radio we've gone a bit 1969 crazy this month. Pete has devoted a whole show to it and The Beatbox Saboteurs are here to prove that Jonathan King was right - everyone's gone to the moon. So I'm joining the moon landing anniversary celebrations too, by playing you a dub reggae version of the Star Trek theme and an electro cover of 'Fly Me To The Moon' by Analogue Electronic Whatever. Plus there's a surprise sci-fi ending to the show courtesy of a man with a papier-mâché head. You know there is, there really is. This month I also bring you a Cumbia cover version of Snap's 'Rhythm Is A Dancer' by Mo'Horizons and a surf guitar take on the Game Of Thrones theme tune courtesy of Los Straightjackets. But don't worry, it's not all crazy cover versions. There's plenty of new releases too, including Japan's Shonen Knife who return with their 19th - that's right, 19th! - album! The ever wonderful Upset The Rhythm label give us three releases courtesy of Trash Kit, Bamboo and Normil Hawaiians. And new electro comes from an artist normally known for making Baroque/Chamber Pop, as The Divine Comedy goes synth! And 'Secrets Songs from the Sixties' returns, inviting you to 'Shang A Doo Lang' and do the 'Wombat Twist'.

Leo Gilbert - July 2019 My July show is perhaps the most up-to-date collection of tunes I have ever put together for broadcast. Most were released in May or June of this year, and a couple had not been officially released at the time of recording the show. Girl Band's new tune - a taster of the upcoming album "The Talkies" - is tucked away in the second half of the show, and two surprise new offerings from the unique artist Burial - one as musician, one as mixer - arrived while I was compiling my tracklist, so all had to squeeze their ways in. Kicking off the merriment is a barnstorming offering from Mythologen, and he pops up towards the end with another. Two songs also feature from Unloved, Ellis May, Surfbort, Radioactive Man and Deli Girls (not performing together - now that would be a treat), and three from Paula Temple. Most of the above are brand new to me, so, if they are to you, too, why not join me in falling in love with them? A couple of bands whose work I cannot resist also stake their claims to a place in proceedings: the reborn Underworld, Modeselektor, the wonderful Sufjan Stevens, Efrim Manuel Menuck and an oldish (2017) tune from Hans Zimmer. They sit alongside a smorgasbord of other bands whose work I was previously unacquainted with: Eleanor Friedberger, JOHN (TIMESTWO), Antwood, Wired Sessions, Constant Mongrel and Elvin Brandhi. Too much to resist, so why try? Just tune that dial Dandelion's way and have an aural feast.

Mark Cunliffe - July 2019 Life is too busy to sustain regular 3 hour shows. Even so, there is no let up in the quality of music in 2019. Slick Shoota has a collection of old but new tunes and HEHFU are back with a new release. As are Christian Fitness, Future Of The Left Falco's almost solo project. Mr Mitch is keeping the quality typically high and Lady Lykes has something out for the first time since, seemingly, the stone age. Tiken Jah Fakoly is doing he stuff with a new album and an old favourite The Intelligence and back with their usual quality.

Sean Hocking - July 2019 There are two shows from Sean this month. It's July 2019 and the new releases keep rolling in. Ring of Fire's favourite new discovery this month is Chicago artist Jamila Woods and her album, LEGACY! LEGACY!. On the album she highlights legendary artists, spanning disciplines, genres and decades, Zora Neale Hurston, James Baldwin, Frida Kahlo, Miles Davis. We feature Muddy (Waters) & Sun Ra. It's not her debut; she first released in 2016. Also wonderful Alice Coltrane inspired work that I can't get enough of at the moment. Sydney's RMFC features again, saw them recently upstairs at a Newtown pub, fierce, sharp and utterly engaging. Also loving Replacement Bus by Hygiene, a more English song you couldn't imagine and made all the better by a monotone mid-atlantic vocal despair at discovering their weekend has just been slowed down yet again! New releases from Ring of Fire favourites include a new one from Perth's Erasers who are currently touring Europe, some guitar heaven from London based Kumari, and a great new album from Lee Scratch Perry produced by Adrian Sherwood, the best thing from the dub creator(s) for ages. We thank Keel Her for her new album and from one of her playlists she reminds us of Brighton personal faves, The Chefs. Eppu Normaali's Finnish version of Reckless Eric's "Whole Wide World" brought a huge smile as does Algerian artist Mazouni. Also listen out for Sean's other show - a special covering the Sahel Sounds label.

Sean's Sahel Sounds Special - July 2019 This month I bring you a one hour show on a wonderful label Sahel Sounds. I first came across Sahel Sounds in Portland Oregon's now legendary Mississippi Records when owner Eric introduced me to the first Sahara Cell Phones compilation put together by label founder, Chris Kirkley, a quiet man who travels throughout the Sahel region from Mauritania, to Chad, Mali, Sudan & beyond to connect with musicians and artists and bring their work to the wider world. You can find out more about the label at https://sahelsounds.com/ Chris writes: "Sahel Sounds is a project focused on culture in the West African Sahel. Sahel Sounds began as a blog by label founder Christopher Kirkley in 2009 to share field recordings. Today, it is a record label, artist collective, film production house, and arts organization. We work directly with artists that we represent and aim to have input and control over artistic endeavors. All profits are shared 50/50. We're committed to using culture as a means of communication, helping our artists build careers, and listening to good music." Sahel Sounds is everything a record label should be in the 21st century, just listen to the music and fall in love with the music of the Sahel.

Thomas Blatchford - July 2019 It's July and Thomas is grateful that Kylie Minogue has recently put out a new greatest hits package entitled Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection. While Kylie has released a considerable number of Best Ofs before, this is arguably the first thorough retrospective since 2004's compilation Ultimate Kylie and therefore features more recent hits that, while modest in success compared to world-conquering smashes such as "I Should Be So Lucky" and "Can't Get You Out Of My Head", are still amongst some of Thomas' personal favourites (for example, "All The Lovers" and "The One", they're really good). None of these songs feature on the show this month, but there is guitar played to sound like a chicken, and who could ask for more? Thomas talks at length about a charming ditty written by a three-year-old girl, plays about ten minutes of Bristolian pirate radio, gives some evidently desperately needed radio support to Lil Nas X and nearly gives his age away while taking about On-U Sound records. Plus: Hearts And Rockets, Hearts & Livers, the ghost of Roky Erickson, and the phrase "bashment for your catchment". If you are interested in the further reading suggested near the end of the show, it's available here: http://www.indelicates.com/worthless
