Lisa Christine

On my show this month:
Hello and welcome to my debut show for Dandelion Radio. I am absolutely thrilled to join the team.
In my first 2 hour show, I have kept the narration down to a minimum for two reasons - first show nerves and to fit more music into what is essentially a mix tape this month to introduce myself.
I hope there is something for everyone in the show. In future shows, I will be covering new releases, gigs attended and featured artists. If you are in a band and think that your music fits with my show, please contact me by email to lisachristine at dandelionradio.com

Biography:
I am originally from Liverpool and moved to Manchester in my teenage years. I then travelled around for a while before returning to Liverpool where I now live.

My love of music definitely came from my father, who encouraged me to play the acoustic guitar as a child and his love of vinyl. Our twice monthly jaunts to what seemed like every single record shop in Liverpool (and there were a lot in those days) in his quest to find something new and interesting to listen to and add to his collection are treasured memories and gave me the zest and enthusiasm for music. Although this may have had a shaky start with the first gig I attended being Showaddywaddy and the first single I bought with my pocket money being Ring my bell by Anita Ward - but hey, I am a child of the 1970's. I like to think that my musical taste has developed since then!!?? But you the listeners can be the judge of that.

My father also introduced me to John Peel on the radio whilst living at home, I continued to listen to John Peel, I loved the variation in music that he played, the way he championed new and upcoming groups, made music accessible and inclusive to all AND he was from Merseyside. One of my favourite songs to this day was played on a John Peel show, at that point I had never heard the electric violin played the way it was on King of the Slums - Fanciable Headcase, it totally blew me away and still does to be honest.

Myself and my partner Icarus Bodd (nickname) spend most of our spare time traipsing up and down the country to festivals and gigs in small venues, listening to music, creating and sharing playlists for friends, just sharing our love of music whether its old tracks you have only just discovered or new tracks from new bands with our friends. Music is to be listened to, shared and enjoyed. Thank god we have so many creative people that can make tracks that make us laugh, cry, scream, melt our faces off etc. I feel extremely lucky to be given the opportunity by Dandelion Radio in their 20th year to be able to share tracks from artists that excite and inspire me.
