Artist Info

The Bobby McGees

Powered by Audioscrobbler™The single most influencial Ukulele band of the 21st Century.

Credited as inventers of several genre's of music including Twee-Core & Twee Jazz.

The Bobby McGee's are an established anti-folk / twee-folk / tweecore group based in Brighton, UK. They formed when Jimmy Cairney met Eleanor Callaghan after his best friend's wedding, at a Libertines gig. They were spurred on by mentor Duke Marmapants (of Duke Marmapants and the Hot Potato Synchopators), and started playing gigs as The Bobby McGee's shortly after. Their name comes from a time when Cairney allegedly provoked Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie and Creation Records founder Alan McGee into telling him to "f*** off" after making accusations as to their recreational habits, and then asking for a record deal.
