Sid Bucknor

Sid BucknorData provided by DiscogsJamaican sound engineer, producer and composer who played an influential role in the development of reggae, ska and rocksteady. Died on 9 May 2010 in London, UK.

Building up the facilities, he started his career as resident engineer at [l272999] (aka Studio One) alongside his cousin [a194190] and subsequently moved to Treasure Isle Recording Studio. He also worked at West Indies Records Ltd. (later Dynamic Sounds Recording Co. Ltd.), Harry J's Recording Studio, Randy's Studio, King Tubby's Studio, Joe Gibbs Studio and Channel One Recording Studio.

He immigrated to England in the mid-'70s where he worked at Island Studios, Chalk Farm Studios, B.B.M.C. Studio, London, Hackney Community College Studio, Tony King Studio, Odessa Studios and his own The Buck Studio.

He was behind the labels JamCan, [l934633] and Tropical Records (3).
In 2009 he was honored alongside [a214394] by the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association for his contributions as engineer.

He is the father of Byron Bucknor who runs the [l3083608] reissue label.
