Powered by Audioscrobbler™More than one band has used the name 'Peru'. The Dutch progressive electronic band is recently reanimated on "The Return" (2018). The British indiepop band is also active.

1) PERU was a Dutch Synthesizer band, started in 1979 with Peter Kommers and Ruud van Es. They used their first names to make the name of the band. Rob Rapen also joined the band and also Jos van de Dungen was involved in this project.
Beside the name PERU they also used NOVA for their more commercial work.
In 1982 they made a number one hit Aurora. In 1988 they made another hit, called Africa. Songs from the album Continents where used by Bassie & Adriaan in the series "het geheim van de schatkaart" as background music.

2) PERU are a guitar pop band from Derby/Nottingham (England) playing C86-style indiepop from 1992-96 and have reformed to perform live in 2010. They originally released on Shelflife, Waaaah, Meller Welle and released the album 'Across Blue Skies' on Jigsaw Records in 2010. An Ep on Dufflecoat Records is planned for 2011.
