Powered by Audioscrobbler™Open Head is an experimental four-piece ensemble hailing from Kingston, New York, comprising members Jared Ashdown (vocals, guitar), Brandon Minervini (guitar, vocals), Jon McCarthy (bass), and Dan Schwartz (drums). Their music draws inspiration from New York's no-wave movement and the avant-garde history of punk, noise, hip-hop, and electronic music, resulting in a sound that is expansive, rhythmically complex, and features intricate dual-guitar interplay.

In February 2022, Open Head released their debut album, "Joy, and Other Sufferings," which was noted for its challenging, chaotic no-wave noise music reminiscent of bands like U.S. Maple, Sonic Youth, and Fugazi. The album showcased their ability to deconstruct traditional rock elements and reassemble them into a singular, original sound.

Their follow-up album, "What Is Success," was released on January 24, 2025, via Wharf Cat Records. This record integrates elements of no-wave, avant-garde punk, noise, hip-hop, and electronic music, resulting in tracks that are heavy, rhythmically complex, and feature intricate two-guitar interplay. The album reflects themes of urban alienation and critiques societal disparities, particularly those observed in New York City.
