The real and original Northerner from Yorkshire (why have these Canadian lads infiltrated this page?!?!?) has paired down his studio to simply Logic, an audio interface, guitars and a microphone.
New material is being worked out and there are rumours of a new album maybe 2025 .

March 2018 The new album 'End of the holiday' is complete and has been mastered! It will be released on vinyl with a download code sometime this year.

July 2017 Work on new album 'End of the holiday" almost complete.

NEWS FOR 2016 Northerner is working on a new album! To be released in 2017.

Northerner is West Yorkshire based artist, Martin Cummings. He released his debut EP "There'll Be Other Holidays" in spring 2008 on the Misplaced Music imprint and then went on to make contributions to a couple of tracks on The Declining Winter's "Goodbye Minnesota" album, also released in 2008. His first full length album, "The Ridings" was released February 2009 on the label, Home Assembly Music. Northerner also had an EP released by Hibernate Records in 2009 entitled "1976".

His latest full length offering "I Am On Your Side" sees Northerner expanding his sound taking in all manner of leftfield influences from dub techno to micro house, instrumental hip hop, funk, soul and dub step to chilling post industrial noise in order to create an album of wildly varying textures.

Northerner's influences include The Durutti Column , Arthur Russell , Tape, Fennesz, Rachel's, Labradford, Jay Dee, Madlib, James Brown and Curtis Mayfield.
