1) An English folk musician.
2) A Scottish minimal techno producer.

1) Nick Dow has been a professional musician since the mid seventies and has many LP's to his credit. His career began in South London where he was a regular at The Bird in Hand folk song club, in forest hill. Nick Dow is an all round professional Folk Singer and Folklorist.

2) Nick Dow is a Scottish minimal techno producer. http://www.soundcloud.com/nick-dow

Like so many electronic producers before him, Nick started out as a musician and spent the first few years of his musical life learning to play various instruments.
Around the age of 15 he was introduced to recording/production and quickly propelled himself into a frenzy of musical experimentation.

Coming from sleepy little town in the Scottish borders nick had the perfect creative environment to develop his skills in and spent the majority of his teenage years shut away in his little home studio.

When nick finally moved to the city to study sound engineering, he started to involve himself within the clubbing scene and became strongly influenced by the electronic sounds that were surrounding him. Acquiring a new taste for minimal he got to work on creating his own musical interpretations of techno.

Within a couple of months, nick was playing his music out live and retaining great feedback. He gained a residency at a local club night in Edinburgh where he then furiously developed his productions by creating new sets of original material for each months gig.

in oct 2011 we saw nick have his debut release on Pulsewith Records. In collaboration with artist Swat Squad, Nicks two tracks “Ride The Snake” and “Coffee Binge” were released as part of a 4 track album titled “Ride The Snake”

Now on the cusp of moving to the
electronic music Mecca Berlin, with another track coming out on Pulsewith and a remix being released on Mistakes Music early this year, 2012 is already looking promising for this talented young producer.

With an ever-evolving sound, full of emotion, rich in texture and melody, nicks style of music making is somewhat uplifting to say the least.

“I want to make meaningful music, music that has a story and takes the listener on a journey. The great thing about Techno is that its so adaptable, its really just a beat that you can incorporate any genre of music within and that’s why I love it. At the right amplitude, people are happy enough to just dance to a kick drum so you really have the freedom to involve what ever sounds you like. I always like to record my own samples, It’s much more fun and it helps you stand out that little bit more than everyone else. Making interesting music is not about talent, Its about passion and effort”.
Nick Dow

More passionate and motivated about his work than ever, nicks finger is very much on the pulse and he is showing no signs of slowing down.
