Method of Defiance

Powered by Audioscrobbler™The newest brainchild of Bill Laswell's vast musical career. "A Musical, sonic, aesthetic, mind body experience , at once structured, spontaneous, precise, random, brash, beautiful and above all, unforgivable."

After some varied releases under the MOD moniker, in 2006 the name "Method of Defiance" was used exclusively in conjunction with a sextet featuring Bill Laswell on bass, Toshinori Kondo on electric trumpet, Bernie Worrell on keyboards, Dr Israel on voice and console, Hawkman on voice and Guy Licata on drums.

The sextet played successful dates in Greece, Japan (2007, 2008 Fuji Rock, 2009 Metamorphosis) and Switzerland (2009 Montreux Jazz Festival), the latter show featuring DJ Krush as a new addition to MOD.

This new incarnation of Method of Defiance has now launched MOD Technologies. With the advent this new label/concept (as the name MOD Technologies is more than just a label - it's an entity; a 21st Century version of Laswell's Axiom label and ethos), the group released 2 albums back to back. 'Jahbulon' featured 10 reggae tracks featuring the talents of Hawk and Dr. Israel on vocals. 'Incunabula' is an all instrumental dub-tinged release featuring the legendary Herbie Hancock on 1 track. This planned (initial) trilogy of releases was completed in late 2011 with the release of a remix album, 'Dub Arcanum Arcandrum', featuring mixes by Bill Laswell, Scientist, Mad Professor, Dr. Israel and others.
