Artist Info

Mashamplani

MashamplaniData provided by DiscogsKwaito band from South Africa

Mashamplani was originally formed by M'Du along with Tokollo Magesh, S'Bu and Pro Ngubane in 1995. They released the EP "Hey Kop" in 1995 and earned a reputation in the kwaito scene, especially with "Is Fokol Is Niks". The group disbanded the following year and got re-arranged by M'Du along with Tshidiso, Peppa, Mjakes, and Tumi and established a new "Mashamplani 2" project for the album "Kunjalo Kunjalo" in 1996. In 1997, they released "Lost 'N Found" with the notoriously diss tracks aimed at Tokollo, who decided to join TKZee later. Three more albums followed with a compilation CD "Back 2 Square" which featured their milestone hits.

Tumi passed away in September 2010.
