Artist Info

Loman

Powered by Audioscrobbler™(1) Loman is the solo project of Franco-Japanese and multi-instrumentalist producer, Romain YAMAUCHI. Combining elegantly melancholic melodies layers, textured beats and a slightly distorted jazzmaster with his vocals, either crystalline or smooth and bewitching, he sketches the outlines of an electro-pop musical landscape with a highly cinematic atmosphere.

Influenced by both the sophisticated, dark electronic sounds of Apparat and Jon Hopkins and the subtle, ethereal poetry of Ryuichi Sakamoto, Loman is a master of uncharted territories who unfolds an intense universe tinged with spleen and mystery.

As a total artist, Loman incorporates his work of minimalist and surreal illustrations into his musical project, enhancing his music to create a strong artistic signature.

Following his critically acclaimed debut EP 'Night Time' (2021), Loman was invited to perform at "Printemps de Bourges" Festival after winning "Les inouïs du Printemps de Bourges" springboard competition.

In the winter 2022, Loman is selected for France's second largest festival for discovering new talents, "Bars en Trans", and quickly noticed by electro producer Vitalic, who offers him the chance to join the roster of his prestigious Label Citizen Records / Clivage Music (Kompromat, Mondkopf, Arnaud Rebotini...).

Loman is currently preparing a series of shows that will kick off in September 2023, announcing his new 5 tracks EP which is set to be released on Clivage Music, by January 2024.

(2) Indie / Rock / Alternative

For just over a year, Loman have been causing a stir at several of Sheffield's major live venues with a sound that blends echoes of past decades with their contemporary light and dark perspectives on modern life an modern love. Sweet, tantric synth lines, chopping guitar, crisp, dancy drumbeats and roving basslines combine to create a unique, punchy, plaintive sound. Come and see Loman. Loman loves you.

Jason Quinsey (Lead Guitar & vocals), Ben_Walker (Drums & vocals), Julian Crockford (Bass), Bali Maman (Keyboards & Sass).

Loman's first album was These Cattle The Lucky Ones (2006). Their second album Loman (2006) contained 4 songs, including Understood and I've Tried. In 2007, they released the Swell e.p. and Blame Culture. Their most recent album was Space in 2008.
