Powered by Audioscrobbler™Kælan Mikla (lit. 'Lady of the Cold') is an Icelandic post-punk band, formed in 2013 in Reykjavík. The trio consists of lead vocalist Laufey Soffía Þórsdóttir, bassist Margrét Rósa Dóru-Harrysdóttir and keyboardist Sólveig Matthildur Kristjánsdóttir.

Their music has been described as post-punk, darkwave and cold wave. They perform their own poetry and have been described as an avant-garde, fresh breeze into the Icelandic music scene. The band was formed after winning first place in a poetry slam held by the city library in January 2013. They have since then played multiple festivals as well as touring Europe. Kælan Mikla are known for their dark melancholic sound, most of the songs consisting only of heavy bass, drums and screams with some softer, melodic synth parts in-between. The bands lyrics focus on inner confusion and their intimidating stage performance, often including performance art of some sort, is bound to leave the crowd in a melancholic trance.

The band's debut album Mánadans was recorded in 2014 and featured Sólveig Matthildur on drums instead of synthesizer.
They released a self-titled follow-up in 2016 under Fabrika Records, Nótt eftir nótt in 2018 under Artoffact Records, their current label, and then Undir köldum norðurljósum in 2021.

The band has played the famous Dutch music festival Roadburn, been championed by Robert Smith of the Cure and opened for Placebo, Alcest, and Ville Valo of HIM.
