J.D. Emmanuel The music of James Daniel Emmanuel, known as J.D. Emmanuel. Influenced by the organ works of Terry Riley and the kosmische school of Krautrock, and rendered with a uniquely personal warmth, Emmanuel's work stands out as something singular in the world of early bedroom electronics. Described by Emmanuel as "Electronic Minimal", Emmanuel's musical style is to first create a foundation using cyclic, poly rhythmic music, then build several layers of improvised leads and rhythms. The style is based on his deep jazz background influenced by his study of minimal music by such composers as Terry Riley, Philip Glass and Steve Reich. Emmanuel also sees his music as "Electronic Meditation", used to focus the mind. Read more on Last.fm.
