Firestations Image from Discogs Firestations is a London five-piece that includes members of Astronauts, Dark Captain, Quickspace and Left With Pictures. At times they bring to mind the scuzzy indiepop hooks of Veronica Falls or the Wave Pictures meshed with the spacey folk of Pentangle or Tunng, and the streamlined precision of Stereolab. Their songs can be lighthearted, but they conceal a dark underbelly of suburban angst and modern mistrust beneath the surface. They write pop songs which are bolstered by collective noise-making and bursts of electronic sound from synths and guitar. At the quieter end of the spectrum the songs hint at a sense of bruised purity that can be found in Sparklehorse, Yo La Tengo, Low or American Analog Set. Their debut album 'Never Closer' was recorded to 8 track tape at Sound Savers (Mazes, Dignan Porch) and at the band's home studio and was released on 24 November 2014, preceded by a single 'Forgetful Man'.
