Death Bells

Powered by Audioscrobbler™Formed in Sydney, Australia in 2014, Death Bells are a morose yet romantic dream pop outfit that incorporate elements of post-punk and shoegaze into their sound. Founded by friends Maurice Santiago, Will Canning, and Aron Postolovic, the line-up was completed with the addition of Remy Veselis, whom Santiago met in Spain during the fall of the same year. Veselis was living in England at the time, during which the band began writing music in Postolovic's grandparents' basement. However, he returned to Byron Bay in early 2015 and began flying to Sydney every couple of weeks for practice sessions in preparation for gigs. After they independently released their first single, "You, Me & Everyone in Between," they began performing around the Australian East Coast and landed support slots for acts such as Gold Class and Gang of Youths. The summer of 2015 saw them retreat to the studio to begin recording their debut release. Experimenting with reverb-laden guitar melodies, analog synths, and drum machines, the release was recorded at Veselis, Canning, and Santiago's apartment and mastered by Mikey Young of fellow Australian post-punk act Total Control. The EP earned sonic comparisons to artists such as Joy Division, The National, and Depeche Mode. Death Bells followed up with their debut full-length, Standing at the Edge of the World, via Funeral Party Records in September 2017.
