I love this station, and I listen all the time, and you really do perpetuate the spirit of Peel, in all but one respect. It pains me to say this, but there is simply not enough track by track variation by any of the DJs, although some are better at this than others. One of the key aspects of Peels shows was the sheer exhilaration of going to one extreme to the other, going from the familiar to the 'what the f*** was that!" He hardly ever played two tracks in the same genre back to back. I'm not saying that there is no variation on Dandelion, particularly between shows, just not enough track by track differences.

Admin reply: Thanks for both the praise and the criticism.
Regarding the selection of music and the juxtaposition of different music compared to the way that John Peel did it .... each of our DJs were Peel fans in their youth and beyond - but that was all at different times in history. The inspiration that they took from those periods continues to drive what they listen to today and hence what they play. We do try to play a lot of new material - often from unsigned bands. Some of our DJs mix that with older or very unusual content, perhaps like Peel would have done - but we do not insist on it.
One of our younger DJs was recently heard asking in a show for recommendations for 50s music to help broaden personal awareness and to help drive what is played in future shows.
Anyway, please do keep listening and recommend to your friends who share a taste for the unusual (at least compared to other stations) - but warn them that if they don't like what they hear then wait for 3 minutes or so and see what comes up next and then again a couple of times ... and failing that try tuning in at the same time the next day for something different.
If you do have some specific recommendations for hings to play then plea do contact the DJs directly - they love getting feedback.

Hi, just covered your Station by chance. Reminds me to my 80s experiences listening to BFBS during nighttimes. Like it very much. Don't have something like your station here. So internet radio is a great thing! Put you onto my favourite stations list!

Re:Pete Jackson's show. A great mix of Electronica, Psychedelia, African, Blues and Indie Pop. The highlight for me was Sonny Terry. My brother and I used to have that one on tape from Peel or Kershaw and would joyfully howl along. The Mahotella Queens, can't get enough of that stuff, if I could play guitar like that, I'd sit and play all day. Maybe that's how you get so good? Laz.
