The spoken word disclaimers below were recorded by Andy and broadcast on BBC Radio 1's John Peel show throughout 2004. The BBC website had started hosting 'listen again' versions of their broadcasts that could be played back on-demand at any time of day. As a result, John had to warn online listeners that his show may contain offensive content.
John grew bored of making these announcements, and invited listeners to send in their own. Andy
recorded a few and popped them in the post, which John soon began playing on air. At John's request, Andy recorded a second batch - this time featuring his family and friends. The disclaimers regularly featured on Peel's show, gaining "The Morrisons in Portsmouth" a modest level of notoriety amongst listeners.
Towards the end of 2004, Andy and his family were secretly invited by John's producer Louise to be the surprise guests on his Christmas 'Techno Special' at Maida Vale studios. Unfortunately, John died unexpectedly on 25th October that year, and the Techno Special never occurred - although Andy was very honoured to be able to attend the 'Keeping It Peel' tribute night that was broadcast by Radio 1 at Maida Vale Studios on 16th December.
Andy was also interviewed by Radio 1 in October 2005 for a documentary about the life and legacy of John Peel. Listen to it here.
