| Rocker - February 2023 This month Rocker presents two hours of music, including a featured album from Meryl Streek, plus new tracks from Gina Birch; The Mudd Club; Shit Present; A Culture Of Killing; Go Fuck Yourself; Sleaford Mods; Strange Attractor; Muddy Summers And The Dirty Field Whores; MJ Hibbett; The Telephone Numbers; and Rough Kids. There's electronica from Fango; Disfreq; and Paranoid London. There's also an ambient track from Drones And Debris - a collaboration between Liverpudlian poet / artist Paul Rooney and Icelandic cellist Gyða Valtýsdóttir. Easy Star All-Stars take on David Bowie, and this month's Rocker's Shellac Attack is a 10" from 1929, on the Victor label out of NYC. As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: Texas-born vocalist Smith Ballew went on from recording records with his own orchestra in the late 1920s to become a 'singing cowboy', appearing in musical Westerns from the mid 1930s to the early 1950s. | ||||

| Sean Hocking - February 2023 It's February and it is Bottom of the Pops on Dandelion Radio. What have we got for you this month? All the usual, dead rock stars, cheeky upstarts and everybody in between. We start the show with a band I caught at the Vic in Dalston before leaving the mildly chilly UK for an overheated Sydney, Norwich's Bag of Cans who, if they can keep it together, might have a healthy future ahead of them. Oodles of pub fun with lots of songs about drinking and getting drunk (remember Peel favourites Serious Drinking who were also from Norwich), not only that they've learnt some licks from the likes of James,. the Libertines and Franz Ferdinand too. Ones to watch for. Also, out of Birmingham, Big Special who've taken a few tips from the Sleaford Mods (who hasn't?). They do it with just the right amount of verve and humour which ensure they don't stray into pasticheland. Both acts come highly recommended. We also have new tunes from K Board & The Skreens (Milan), Smashing Red (Plymouth), Sproatly Smith (Rural Herefordshire) who I'm falling in love with very quickly due the fact that it's taken me many years to find another outfit who bathe in the same waters as Ultramarine did on the debut "Every Man & Woman Is A Star". Also York's Neon Kittens have a new single out ahead of their February debut full length, The Postmen from Southampton and South African DJ Black Low who I played on repeat last year is back too. This month's dead rock stars are Jeff Beck & David Crosby both of whom were interesting at certain points in time, so you'll be hearing some early Yardbirds and something off Crosby's solo outing "If I Could Only Remember My Name" which, it has to be said, is one of the best album titles ever. I also chuck in that pil Eurovision entry, Richard H Kirk and a country song about liking Beef. Thanks for listening | ||||
