The Four Blues African-American vocal group, that first recorded for Decca in 1940. The 4 Blues seem to have gotten together in either 1939 or early 1940 with original members Joseph Gardner (piano and vibes), James "Doc" Starkes (bassist and trombone), and Baxter White (vocals, although they all sang), all Philadelphians; and Ganzyetter Thompson, Junior (electric guitar) of Springfield, Massachusetts.
