Slows Down is the project of London musician Alexander Hawthorne.
Slows Down uses minor keys, drones, hypnotic melodies, weeping guitars, cathartic crescendos and harsh noise to make music that moves between minimalist, melancholy chamber pop and dense, menacing psychedelic noise rock.
Taking cues from Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Mercury Rev, Spiritualized, Ennio Morricone, Swans, Dick Dale, 60s pop and Indian and Middle Eastern classical music, Slows Down's rich instrumentation comprises electric guitars, strings, organs, tanpura, swarmandal, glockenspiel, lap steel, hammered dulcimer, analog synthesizers, bowed guitar drones, harsh swirling guitar noise and more to create a heady and draining soundstage.
