Shalawambe is a Zambian kalindula and rumba group that formed as a break off of the earlier Zamrock and Kalindula band, [a13257096]. The band formed following after professional and personal differences led some members to leave the Green Labels in the mid 1980's. Led by [a2363639], the new band would release several hit singles in the 80's and two albums before the end of the decade. Their second album, [r5067520] received international attention and was marketed in Europe. The band remained active through the 90's but loss of several members eventually led to the band reforming with new members, still under the leadership of Dolenzy as "The New Shalawambe." They remained active as late as 2024.
