Powered by Audioscrobbler™Roger Robinson is a Trinidadian writer and performer who has lived in London for 20 years. He has performed worldwide and is an experienced workshop leader and lecturer on poetry and spoken word. He has received commissions from the UK’s Theatre Royal Stratford East, The National Trust, London Open House and the National Portrait Gallery and was chosen by the Arts Council England and Decibel as one of 50 writers who have influenced the Black-British writing canon over the past 50 years. He is a co-founder of the international writing collective Malika’s Kitchen and was programme co-coordinator of Apples & Snakes, England's leading organization for performance poetry and spoken word.

Roger has published a book of short fiction, ‘Adventures in 3D’ (Lubin & Kleyner, 2002); and two poetry collections, ‘Suitcase’ (Waterways, 2004) and ‘Suckle’ (Waterways, 2009). ‘Suckle’, a vivid and poignant homage to his formative years, memories and experiences in Trinidad, was winner of the People’s Book Prize, a national competition aimed at discovering talented authors. Roger has also recently finished a new book. His one-man shows are: The Shadow Boxer; Letter from My Father’s Brother; and Prohibition (all premiered at the British Festival of Visual Theatre at Battersea Arts Centre, London).

In 2005 he released an album of spoken folk, ‘Illclectica’ (Altered Vibes) and is currently a member of the band King Midas Sound, whose critically acclaimed debut album Waiting for You was released on Hyperdub Records in 2009, followed two years later by the remix album Without You.
