Rat Fancy

Rat FancyPowered by Audioscrobbler™In times where the world feels upside down and life expectations lurk in the shadows, Rat Fancy responds with two words: stay cool. The group formed in late 2016 by Diana Barraza (vocals/lyrics/guitar) and Gregory Johnson (guitar/bass/drums/keys) with the explicit goal to create shimmering lo-fi pop, recorded in their bedroom in Northeast Los Angeles. The result was their EP Suck A Lemon, released in 2017 on HHBTM Records. Rat Fancy debuted live at SXSW that year and continued to grow their sound, taking the best elements of indie and punk, as well as the nostalgic sounds of nineties alternative and emo for inspiration.

Playing sporadic dates at festivals across the country, Barraza and Johnson prepared their debut LP Stay Cool, set to be released in 2019 on HHBTM Records. The LP was recorded by David Newton of eighties indie band The Mighty Lemon Drops with equipment purchased from a studio used by My Bloody Valentine and Primal Scream. Fittingly, Stay Cool is the group’s punchiest, heaviest and most compelling work to date.

Today, Rat Fancy live is Barraza, Johnson, with friends Matt Sturgis (drums) and Dan Fernandez (bass). Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
