Psychonauts

Psychonauts

Powered by Audioscrobbler™Three bands with the name Psychonauts exist :

1) DJ band formed by Paul Mogg and Pablo Clements.

2) Psytrance duo from Greece.

3) An alias of Cédric Stevens.

4) Psychobilly band from Australia

1)The Psychonauts are Paul Mogg, Pablo Clements and Lionel Kisnorbo. Three school friends from Yeovil in Somerset. They became friends through a shared love of hip hop and disco. They started a club night known as the Night Of Cookers and mixed up hip hop, house and techno. After making a mix tape and sending it to Tim Goldsworthy (now of the DFA), who was working at Mo'Wax at the time, they moved to London. They mixed the notable James Lavelle Cream Live mix as well as his Tribal Gathering mix. In 1998 they managed to fit most of the Mo'Wax back catalogue into a 40 minute mix known as Time Machine. They did not release their first single until 2001 's Hot Blood/Inavding Space single. The album, Songs For Creatures, was released on Internation Deejay Gigolo records in 2003 after Mo'Wax had ground to halt in 2002.

2)Another group with the name Psychonauts is Mike Verros & George Pandelidis
A psy trance group from Thessaloniki, Greece. Mike Verros is also the creator of a famous mobile trance party organisation in Greece called Brainstorm.
The music of Psychonauts contains a distinct melodic nature, clearly influenced by the more eastern cultural orientation of Thessaloniki, therefore rather close in concepts to the Israeli concept of psychedelic trance. This connection became clearly evident by the 1998 and onwards collaborations with many of the Israeli artists, belonging then to the Morning and Melodic side of trance.
Nevertheless, the music style of psychonauts cannot be classified purely as Morning & Melodic trance, as in most cases it features a great complexity and fast acid scaling buzzlines.
