There are at least four bands named Mug.

1) Mug is from Reykjavik, Iceland. They released an album ‘Polaroid Period’ in the late 1990s. A new album ‘Project Eject’ is scheduled for release in 2009. Fans of Sonic Youth, Blonde Redhead and Brigitte Bardot might like this. Mug is listed as "mug (iceland)" here on last.fm

2) Mug (Miami) released an album “The Absence of Cool” in 2007(?) and disbanded in 2008.

3) Melbourne duo Mug are siblings Lily and Sam Harding (of Gamjee). They explore avenues of contemporary pop and Eurocentric art-rock.
