Lady Lazarus is the solo project of Melissa Ann Sweat, a singer-songwriter, artist, and creative writer from San Jose, Calif. now living in Joshua Tree, known for her enchanting and minimalist songs for mainly voice and piano. Her music touches on dream pop and experimental folk, and has been compared to Cat Power, Smog/Bill Callahan, Joanna Newsom, Grouper, and Daniel Johnston, among others, while nodding to composers like Philip Glass and Erik Satie. Lady Lazarus received breakthrough press in 2011 for her debut album, Mantic, including a 7.8 review from Pitchfork, and praise from Stereogum, Beats Per Minute, the Journal of Music, and many others in the U.S. and abroad.
On 1/29/13, Lady Lazarus released her new album, All My Love In Half Light, to praise from Pitchfork, NPR, SPIN, Interview magazine, Consequence of Sound, Beats Per Minute, and more. On May 13, 2014, All My Love In Half Light received an international re-release with two new bonus tracks via LebensStrasse Records.

2) Australian punk garage band
Lady Lazarus are a Sydney inner west 4 piece bringing back riot-grrl to the Sydney music scene. From home-made badges to zines to sexy queer punk anthems, Lady Lazarus “bring a raw, jagged set, a melting pot of grunge, old school punk, and riot-grrrl. Never less than ferocious, never further away than right up in your damn face.”. Their 2024 debut single ‘Hannah Banana’ commemorates frontwoman Caroline's first relationship with a girl. They’re here, they’re queer, they’re ready for a beer.
