Kush I

Powered by Audioscrobbler™KUSH I

Singer song writer Kush I, began his career as an MC and progressed to singing with encouragement from friends.

He was introduced to the music fraternity by Studio 1 legend Ken Boothe, which led to him working with many influential producers, musicians and artiste's who have been the cornerstone of Reggae music in Jamaica and around the world, namely King Jammy's, Phatis Burrll, Jack Scorpio, Dean "Cannon" Frazer, Sly and Robbie, Ansell Collins, Earl "China" Smith and The Abyssinians to name but a few.

As the first cousin to "Pipe" of the top Jamaican trio "Wailing Souls", Kush I understood well the standards that was expected of him as a Reggae singer. He has demonstrated his competence and ability in writing and composing songs, which range from strong conscious lyrics that illuminate the Ras-Tafari movement to warm emotional love ballads that are timeless and serve Reggae music well.

'Sweetest Affection', is one such song that reached number eight in the British Reggae charts and was featured regularly on Jamaica's Irie FM after being discovered by Elise Kelly.

Kush I, whose name is derived from the Cuhsite's continues to collaborate with fellow musicians to create musical works that pay credit to his chosen genre. In this age of hype and celebrity his approach to music is refreshing, in that it is clear to see that he is about humble service to the music and his community.
