Powered by Audioscrobbler™The ever growing tension between Iran and the United States, a collision seems inevitable, which in turn has highlighted the clash between Eastern and Western ideology. There are instances of light and hope that come through the tense times that face us all. The sounds, rhythms, melodies, and cries of artists that are caught between the two cultures have been the staple of the underground voice of a generation desperately trying to break through.

Born and raised in Iran, Esfand now calls Brooklyn home. Many know him as the ex-front man of "Landlord", a New York City rock band, which he unexpectedly walked away from in 2006. Others know Esfand from his Sacred Persian music performances at the U.N., Asia Society, and Lincoln Center. So after a couple of years of absence from the music scene, along comes Esfand's first solo EP released under Green Army Records called "Martyr for Love". In his first release, Esfand experiments with electronic and pop sounds and melts them with his core influences, with a message that is delivered more powerfully than ever before.

Esfand's collaboration with co-producer Valentino La Rosa and bassist David Fateman has elevated the sound of the EP to new heights. Valentino La Rosa and David Fateman together help to build the backbone on which Esfand has delivered his lyrics and melodies that are relevantly specific to and call upon the tensions of today's global struggles and misunderstandings…
