Erick Cosaque Erick Cosaque (born in 1951 and passed away in 2020) was one of the undisputed masters of Gwo Ka, a music and cultural practice originating from Guadeloupe, based on traditional drums ("ka"), a form of singing known as "chanté", and participatory dance. Cosaque was much more than a musician: he was a contemporary griot, a storyteller deeply committed to the preservation, reinvention, and politicization of Afro-descendant music in the French Antilles.
