Dada Trash Collage is the brain child of Detroit native William Freed. When asked about the bands inspiration by the music blog Ash Tapes, Freed said "Dada Trash Collage to me, is all about composing with sound rather than instruments. It really allows me to keep things exciting for myself to know that anything and everything can become part of the final product."
After self releasing two full length records in 2009, Dada Trash Collage began receiving notoriety for its avant-garde style pop and prolific DIY output. The project would soon be invited by producer Scott Colburn (Arcade Fire, Animal Collective)
to Seattle, Wa to begin work on their 3rd full length record "Neighbors".
Shortly after the Release of Neighbors in May of 2010, Dada Trash Collage started gaining attention from national and international music publications. Dada Trash Collage spent the majority of 2010 touring the United States including a tour with Zola Jesus, and Jabon (Scott Colburn), as well as stops at Pop Montreal, and CMJ in New York City. As part of the Pop Montreal festival, Freed also performed with Italian noise outfit Father Murphey. A live recording of the song "You Got Worry" would later be released as part of a special compilation album to benefit the Italian label Hybrida
In October of 2010 Dada Trash Collage released their 4th full length record Cool Waves/ Bad Days which was met with praise from music publications, and listeners alike being described as "William Freed’s most accomplished work so far".
It was also around this time that Freed began writing what would become “Ambitious Out Of Control”, a multi-media collaboration with wife Bear Ears (Jessica Freed). The album described as "Heavily Contagious" was self-released with a silent film alongside a 12" split color vinyl.
After nearly 100 shows across the United States between 2011/12, Dada Trash Collage would then release the stunning 2013 effort "Can't Pause People" followed by another Colburn produced full length LP "Post-Haste" in early 2014. Shortly before the release of "Post-Haste", frequent collaborator and founding member of the project Richard Bell tragically passed away. The emotional toll of Bell's passing would lead to a nearly 5 year hiatus for Dada Trash Collage. In late 2018, Freed would return under the moniker "Guy Woodhouse", releasing the hip-hop inspired "In Memory of… Rosemary Woodhouse" before starting work on what would be the next official Dada Trash Collage release. Recorded outside Detroit, MI in the fall of 2019, the 10 song "Crowded Wound" will be the projects first LP in 6 years, set for a 2020 release.
