Common Saints is a psychedelic soul project of London based writer/producer, Charlie Perry. The name "Common Saints" refers to a Good Samaritan, i.e. someone who selflessly helps another person in need, often a stranger, especially in an emergency situation.
Born in London but growing up in Oxfordshire, Perry was initially classically trained on the piano from age 6 and began experimenting with music production at age 14 - upon discovering Propellerhead's Reason DAW at school. He also learned the guitar and drums during these formative years, giving him an all-round appreciation for an instrumental interconnectedness that follows through in his work today.
Perry is also known for his writing/production work on projects like Jorja Smith's breakthrough EP Project 11, collaborations with Olivia Dean, Maverick Sabre, Lola Young, and writing/producing BTS' Singularity.
Perry first brought Common Saints to light with the release of the 2019 Idol Eyes EP. We see a showcasing of psychedelic fronts intertwined with soulful atmospheres to create a very unique space bridging many styles including jazz, psychedelic rock, soul, and blues.
His debut LP, Cinema 3000, conveys a rich, cinematic, and otherworldly feel. A record as vast and ambitious as its title suggests, Cinema 3000 encapsulates the hallmarks of Perry’s solo project—warm, luscious musicality, filmic sensibilities, and a grounded sense of spirituality and hope. Across 14 tracks, Perry cements himself not just as a behind-the-scenes producer but a true artist in his own right, taking all he has learned from past collaborations and experimentations, and focusing it into an incredible album.
