Cimbaliband Balázs Unger (cimbalom), started CimbaliBand together with Szlobodán Wertetics (accordion) in 2006. Earlier he was awarded Young Master of Folk Arts and played in prominent jazz and folk bands like Dresch Quartet, Fonó Folk Band and the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble. CimbaliBand is not a typical band from the Balkans. As the most popular tunes from this passionate peninsula is dominated by brass instruments, the peculiar formation of CimbaliBand, lead by the cimbalom and the accordion at one time, is a remarkable phenomenon. The harmony of these two along with the violin, tambura, double bass and darbuka creates a sound which springs from deeply rooted traditions yet is undeniably modern. Eclectic folk for an eclectic generation. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply. Artist biography from last.fm
