Powered by Audioscrobbler™Bobbie Peru was created in Manchester (UK) January 2006. The American lead singer/guitarist Bert Genovese relocated from Atlanta, Georgia to continue his musical career with Storm Records. Bert was a recording artist with Atlanta based band Adom who were signed to Storm. The band split after the release of their debut album.

Bert (Lead Vocal/Guitarist) released an EP of solo acoustic work under the name 'Bobbie Peru' in 2006 and then teamed up with local musical talents, Ding (PJ Harvey/The Fall/Frank Black) on bass and the mysterious Dr.E on drums.

The band played extensively in the north of the U.K during 2007, whilst writing the songs that would form the debut LP release, 'Social Suicide'. Prior to the release of the album, a self-financed single, '1971' was released and quickly sold-out. A video was also filmed for the single and can be seen on You Tube

'Social Suicide' was released September 2007 on New York based record label, Dig Nitty .The album was recorded and produced by the band and was well received both in the U.K and Europe

In Feb 2008 they toured Europe with Black Francis on his 'Bluefinger' tour and went on to support The Fall on their 'Imperial Wax Solvent' tour in March in the UK. During September 2008 they will join Spear Of Destiny for some shows on their 'Singles Tour' and late in the year they will be supporting The Fall again for some shows.

Their sound has been compared to the likes of Gang Of Four, The Fall, Devo, Television, The Pixies, Killing Joke, Magazine, Fugazi, The Jesus Lizard, Scratch Acid

In Sept 08 Dr E left the band and was replaced by Adam Buckeridge
