Bettie Serveert is a Dutch indie rock band, established in 1991 in Arnhem, although they have been living in Amsterdam for decades now. Their name, which translates as 'Bettie serves', is taken from a series of tennis instructional books by Dutch tennis legend Betty Stöve, who lost the Wimbledon Ladies singles final in 1977.

Comprising vocalist Carol Van Dyk (vocals), Peter Visser (guitar), Herman Bunskoeke (bass) and Berend Dubbe (drums) they originally formed in 1986 as a side-project of De Artsen. After De Artsen split up in 1990, Bettie Serveert took off.

They released their debut album Palomine in 1992, which, fifteen years after its release, is still a modern indie rock classic, wonderfully blending together influences of The Velvet Underground and Neil Young with melancholic lyrics, catchy tunes and a lo-fi-feel. The album sold particularly well in North America, where the band did coast-to-coast tours.

After releasing the full-length albums Lamprey (1995), Dust Bunnies (1997) and the live Velvet Underground covers albums Venus in Furs (1998), drummer Berend Dubbe decided to leave because of musical disagreements. He started his own band: Bauer.

Various drummers occupied the Betties' vacant drum stool on the albums that followed: Private Suit (2000), Log 22 (2003), Attagirl (2004) and the acoustic live album, Bare Stripped Naked (2006). Gino Geudens of Belgian nineties power pop band Metal Molly was the group's live drummer for a quite some time.

More albums followed: Pharmacy of Love (2010), Oh, Mayhem! (2013) and Damaged Good (2016), whereas 2022 saw the release of Palomine (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) on Matador Records, supported by a Palomine Tour in 2023.
