Ayyuka

Ayyuka
Image from Discogs
Powered by Audioscrobbler™The roots of Ayyuka started in high school when guitarist Ozgur Yilmaz and bass player Altan Sebuktekin came together and started improvising. The next step in the development of Ayyuka occured at Eskisehir university when guitarist Ahmet Kul and drummer Alican Tezer joined. The group played covers(Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Ennio Morricone, PJ Harvey, Blonde Redhead, Erkin Koray, Orhan Gencebay, Neşet Ertaş) and continued improvising, and they started calling themselves Ayyuka. The word ayyuka has two very different meanings: "To the highest part of the sky" and "To tell that a secret has been revealed" (an idiom).
