Powered by Audioscrobbler™Al Bairre is a Cape Town based, five piece symphonic indie rock band who combine cello, violins, guitars, ukeleles and drums. Al Bairre launched in 2012 and consist of Kyle Davis, Tom Kotze, Tessa Johnson, Julia Johnson and Nicholas Preen. Drawing influence from bands such as Arcade Fire, Ra Ra Riot, Vampire Weekend and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, their goal was to take an indie band and turn it into an “ice cream of orchestral sounds”.

Since launching in 2012, Al Bairre has played numerous successful shows alongside great acts like Shadowclub, Holliday Murray, Beach Party, LA VI, Grassy Spark and Matthew Mole. Al Bairre also released their first EP titled When I Was Tall. When I Was Tall was very well received not only locally but also internationally with tracks being picked up by Sydney University Radio, as well as being featured on Vodafone’s London Fashion Week video. They have also released two music videos for the tracks “When I Was Tall” and “Right Here In July” that has given them great momentum in the industry.

Building on this momentum they were featured in YES Lifestyle Magazine, THE BIG ISSUE and Your LMG September issue as well as many blogs. Al Bairre are also in the process of putting together a Johannesburg tour that they are very excited about. Most recently Al Bairre have been confirmed for Synergy Live music festival, something they are very proud of after such a short time in the scene.
