Lee Adcock - January 2016 Congratulations! If you're reading this synopsis, that means you survived the festivus onslaught of December. As we sweep away the confetti, and box up the menorahs, and haul off the trees, let's try to clammer into 2016. Music-wise, I always crawl up like a slug; thus, this month's episode shall be a truncated one, with an hour lopped off the usual frenzy, and several tracks holding the vanguard from last year. I'm seeing Killing Joke later in January, so there's a good excuse to invite them over; Bitchratch will attempt to sabotage the decks; jennylee and Disparition will square off for a black magic showdown in the kitchen. We paid lots of money for FKA Twigs and M.I.A to bedazzle us, so pay attention, you mo-fos. In the upcoming category, scuzzy indie kids Halfsour will storm the gallery, spewing the bubbly in everyone's faces, while Animal Daydream will sigh at their labelmates and sit quietly in the corner sharing a peace pipe. Also, watch out for an EDM remix of a familiar Mario tune, a lost foggy epic from Normil Hawaiians, and a song that should soothe nations from the lovely Bamboo. And, you know, other things.

Mark Whitby - January 2016 A stunning exclusive session jam from Twice Dead provides a glorious centrepiece for a January show that, as usual, attempts to showcase many of the best releases coming our way early in the new year, including tracks from new albums by Hinds, Savages and Emma Pollock as well as a new collection from Dressy Bessy that comes our way after a gap of more than seven years. Also featured is the much-anticipated Yorkston/Thorne/Khan collaboration, with a rendition of an old Ivor Cutler tune, one of several cover versions in a show that also sees Guruzsmas taking on Dick Dale, Tape Waves trying their hand at a vintage New Order tune and Tortoise covering, er, David Essex. Meanwhile, our now customary featured compilation comes in the form of three cuts from Bristol Archive's excellent 'Bristol Roots Explosion' album, to be released in February. Lee Negin and Bernays Propaganda serve up new singles ahead of albums to come in the near future, while nostalgia, while very firmly restrained, is nonetheless in evidence in a couple of the better tracks from the forthcoming Creation shoegaze box set, while, in the month of our festive fifty broadcast, we play three tunes from the chart of 1995, regarded as one of the best ever and a rare example of a festive fifty that carried John Peel's vociferous seal of approval.
