I am neither man nor woman, but a fleet-footed spirit enmeshed with the people that open their arms to receive me. I dance in the pulse of the now, of the wondrous now and its echoes. Do join me in welcoming Chorusgirl and Antlered Auntlord to the global spotlight; let us toast the triumphant returns of Rocket From The Tombs, Skinny Girl Diet, and Wreckless Eric, among others; and let's send our most heartfelt holiday cards to two of this year's mightiest globetrotters, Dengue Fever and Mbongwana Star (late on the bandwagon, I know - funny story about how I found the former). Also, the very Elephant 6-ish S.M. Wolf will swing by to drop off some cookies; Ghost Car and Summer Isle bring exotic gifts from Spain; Lonesome Leash comes a-caroling at our doorstep with accordion in tow; and Hag Face will pass round the eggnog (spiked with lots of rum, of course, but they're not telling you that). Mark Whitby - December 2015 We finally did the decent thing and asked the wonderful Manwel T to do a session for us. The predictably excellent results can be heard in an end-of-year show that, largely, steers clear of end-of year stuff (although I do sneak in a track from my favourite artist of the year and something from my favourite album), concentrating on new tunes from the likes of Savages, David Shane Smith and Hanging Freud, Darren Hayman belting out a James Bond theme and a fab new cassette release from R. Elizabeth. From France, we've got something from the new EP from Drive With A Dead Girl and an album from Les Agamemnonz; we've got tunes from Japan's Contagious Orgasm and The DHDFD's from New Zealand and we finally get round to playing a couple of tunes from the compilation celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of 'Psychocandy', from Brazilian label The Blog That Celebrates Itself. It's Festive Fifty month, of course, so we play a couple of much-loved entries from the chart of 1985. And it's December, of course, so we finish off the show with half a dozen Xmas-themed releases including tracks from Matt Bouvier and Animal Flag and the much anticipated new Christmas album from Cassie Ramone.

Rocker - December 2015 As usual, three hours of new music from all around the globe. There's four tracks from this month's featured album, the excellent Yr First Crush compilation cassette, as well as new tracks from Jonathan Richman; Pussy Riot; Design; Elizabeth Morris; Daddy Issues; Penetration; Three Hour Tour; Stutter Steps; Pennycress; Transistors; Wet Nurse; Earth Girls; Cannonball Statman and Ian Moss. There's electronica from Agoria; Mathias Kaden remixed by Michael Mayer; Gonno and an amazing remix of Eric Prydz by Four Tet. The show opens with Ambages' moving French translation of Eric Bogle's paeon to pacifism 'And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda', which tells the story of an Australian hobo conscripted and sent to fight at Gallipoli, returning minus legs, to bemoan the absolute futility of wars. This month's Peel's Big 45 is a 1995 release from an obscure Vancouver band, one of whom went on to bigger things; and this month's Educating Elizabeth record is a Motown classic from 1967. As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: In November 2002, UN weapons inspectors moved into Iraq in a (futile) attempt to find evidence of Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction. With the likelihood of a new Gulf war looming, word 'from above' went around the BBC that DJs should avoid playing any tracks which included references to warfare or death. John Peel responded by playing June Tabor's breathtaking and entirely a capella version of Eric Bogle's 'And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda'.

Sean Hocking - December 2015 Last show of the year I hope you enjoy it. There's a few repeats from earlier in the year, not that many mind, Ashley Reaks and his superb Wearside Jack off his Before Koresh album released in the first quarter of the year an oldie from Ezra Furman but as he's one of the artists who has kept me sane this year he definitely deserved a slot in the oldie section and we notice Art Brut aren't quite as hip as they used to be so just a little reminder as to what perfect indie pop should sound like. Regular listeners over the past few months will note that Gobstopper Records run by Mr Mitch from his world HQ in Peckham have become favored listening and this show is no different with tunes from Strict Face, Loom and Cid Rim. Also some great music from Australians Brando's Island, Constant Mongrel, The Shops and Mini Moke from Salary still only in final mix stage but my favorite track of the year. There's lot's more to boot and I won't go without mentioning that we've included something off the latest release by Buffy Sainte-Marie. She sounds amazing to these ears and there's an anger and frustration in her voice that I haven't heard since Marianne Faithfull's Broken English. Thanks so much for listening in 2015 and I hope to bring you a lot more great new music in 2016. Actually I know I am. I've been on a bit of a discovery trip and have found some great new music from Glasgow, New Delhi & NZ already to start off the January show .
