Andrew Morrison - July 2013 There's two hours of great new music from Andy in his July show, including Pure X, Team Ghost, Gabriel Bruce, Peace, Depeche Mode, MS MR, Boards Of Canada, Drenge, Alex Canasta and Disclosure. Marcelle's Vinyl Train - July 2013 'The vinyl train ride 6' Amazing distances through space and time are covered by Marcelle's Vinyl Train this month. In early 1970's West-Germany we find rainy days but sunshine girls, in bleak mid-1980's England we wonder who really is a myth and legend, in Jamaica we have a scary man next door and if this is not enough there's also a dub meltdown. We hear a fragmented voice of America and learn what we, deep in our hearts, already knew: musicians are morons. And in Japan we only have happy shoppers! So, have an exciting ride on Marcelle's Vinyl Train! Also - listen out for Marcelle's regular show. Can't tell you what is in it because the synopsis writer is on holiday. If you fancy writing it then send in your suggestion.

Mark Cunliffe - July 2013 There's a new fearsome gang terrorising Derby at the moment. They are going round forcing people to do complex arithmetic and are calling themselves the Try-Adds. What's the sum total of my show this month then? Gappy Ranks is reaping what he's sewn while Evan Rowe has an offal mate. Cheap Jazz aren't doing it 80's style, they've forgotten the soap and I hope Universe People aren't going to make a noose out of it??? There's a fab session from York's ace Mark Wynn recorded in Derby a wee while ago.

Mark Whitby - July 2013 July's offerings include a special session brought to you via a link-up with Skopje's Kanal 103, featuring Macedonia's Bernays Propaganda. We also have a featured album of sorts, with five tracks from the excellent Regal Vs Steamboat Audio Antihero compilation in aid of Rape Crisis. They're joined by some veritable heavyweights in the form of Boards Of Canada and Polysics while we make up for last month's failure to play anything from that recent release from The Fall. I continue my fascination with La Misman, Mark Wynn and of course Midget Ninjas; there's a new Daddy Tank release from Backwards, a track from a new Solarno EP and a new single from Lee Negin. Among the other delights on offer, you can hear a track from brilliant new releases from Berlin's Banque Allemande, Detroit's Mexican Knives and veteran Hungarian punks Another Way and this month's Peel Back... feature includes a couple of vintage session tracks from Datblygu and Billy Bragg.

Paul Ackroyd - July 2013 It's been a funny old month round my way. Among several other things, I managed to develop a curse on computers, killing three in the space of little over a week. Why do I tell you this? Well, by the time I had a functioning computer, the Dandelion submission deadline was upon us. But I had failed to configure several things in the backend of the computer, and it took three attempts to get this show recorded to broadcastable quality. So that's what I'm banging on about at points during the show. Also by the time the successful recording came about, I neglected to inform what the actual theme of the show was. Y'see I went record shopping in Soho the other day, as I frequently do, and I had to check by the huge HMV on Oxford Street for a couple of items. But upon arriving there, I was faced with hundreds of square feet of empty floorspace, removed racks, and a general lack of stock. The downstairs section, which is an excellent shop in its own right, was particularly depressing, as it was two-thirds empty. I knew HMV was well and truly messed-up, but I hadn't anticipated their flagship store might be at risk. That downstairs section specialised in jazz, classical, world, blues, country, and many other things. And now I discover the whole shop - that has been open for 92 years - is closing down. Depressing times indeed. Which is a very long-winded way of saying my offering for Dandelion this month is a vinyl-only affair - solely records I have purchased over the past month. I don't know how this helps anything, but it felt important to make for one reason or another. So what will you hear through the programme? Well, probably a fairer representation of my record shopping habits than usual. In the stack, about fifty pieces of vinyl I've acquired since last month's Dandelion show, each and every one blindly plucked from the pile during recording. So on the reissue front, offerings from Finis Africae, Ramesh, Calvin Leavy & The Cummins Prison Farm Singers, Trio Tsitsomitsos, Omar Khorshid, Nick Tzaras and Sideris Andrianos, and Muslimgauze remixing Suns Of Arqa; Second-hand purchases included Bennie Moten's Kansas City Orchestra, Debussy, some Himalayan music, Lionel Hampton and his Orchestra, Doroty Ashby, Krzysztof Penderecki, and some Tibetan monks; Of the new music I've picked up, you can hear Delroy Edwards, The Focus Group, Levon Vincent, Reson, Demdike Stare, Soosh, Vision Of Love, Boner M, Bob Bernard, Serge Vuille, Reson, and some Broken-Hearted Dragonflies; and in Wax Across The Water, a 1982 album from Playgroup. Now please all of you go and buy some records - I can't face the prospect of many more shops closing down. And enjoy the show x

Rocker - July 2013 Another packed three hour show, including new tracks from Colour Me Wednesday; Crushed Beaks; Martha; Ryan Hardy; Bazooka; GUMS!; French Films; Scott & Charlene's Wedding; Girl One And The Grease Guns; Public Service Broadcasting; ONSIND; The Wednesday Club; The Fall; Design; Tyrannosaurus Dead; The Bevis Frond; and Hopper Propelled Electric. There's electronica from James Holden; Zomby; Butch & Hohberg; Steve Digital; Electric Rescue; and Microtrauma. There's a new Veronica Falls track, and in an amazing never-before-seen feat of memory I remember to dig out and play The Rats' original of the track I played by them last month - and a couple of the band also crop up singing on a track by the Hard Skins, whose "Why Do Birds Suddenly Appear" album features guest female vocalists on each of the tracks from their recent "On The Balls" album. This month for a change The Wedding Present sing in German, while The Bee's Niece and Goldblade both sing about the current state of England. The Sidewalk Doctors nice up The Beatles, while Happy Families take on The Ramones, and Field Mouse gives Angelo Badalamenti a seeing to. Standard Fare have a new single out, despite having split up back in February. This month's Educating Elizabeth record from 1973 extols the joys of extra-marital affairs, while Peel's Big 45 features the man himself extolling the virtues of a classic 1967 psychedelic debut album. As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: The name in the title of The Nice's classic 1967 psychedelic debut album "The Thoughts Of Emerlist Davjack" is composed of a section of each bandmember's name.

Sean Hocking - July 2013 We start the show with some dub from two generations of Scottish musicians. First up a track off Steve Mason's new album "Monkey Minds In The Devils Time". I'm loathe to say it's the best thing he's done since ... as I always say that. So instead I'll say it is the most life affirming album I've heard yet this year. We follow this with some 4 track gameboy dub from fellow scot Dub Chieftain, Then a big thanks to Matt of fabulous East Coast (USA) label RVNG for introducing me to LA's Secret Circuit who makes electronic music that actually sounds different .. something that's quite hard to say these days, You'll notice I've just re-purchased Join Hands by Siouxsie and the Banshees. A quick look online suggests that people think the album wasn't one of their best. I actually disagree vehemently with the naysayers on this album. I loved it as a 14 year old and still do today and as far as I'm aware it is still the last chance we had to hear guitarist John McKay and drummer Kenny Morris and god do they sound good. We've got the usual contenders from China and Thailand and I couldn't resist chucking in my favourite Throbbing Gristle remix. And finally if anybody happens to be in Portland OR mid July - do pop into the 2nd Sometimes A Great Notion festival (http://www.sagnii.com), We've got Pink Skull from Philly doing a rare live set, Ken Stringfellow. Seattles's next wave .. The Maldives & Rose Windows as well as sets from the likes of Portland's White Fang, Pulse Emitter and Pinks Quieter.
