The Scratch

The Scratch
Image from Discogs
Powered by Audioscrobbler™There appear to be two bands called The Scratch.

1) The Scratch are a St.Albans based five peice band formed in 2002.

Influences are mainly found in the realms of classic English rock from The Buzzcocks, T-Rex, The Kinks, Primal Scream, Blur, Happy Mondays, Be Bop Deluxe, Adam and the Ants, The Fire Engines, Killing Joke and Wire, but also include more modern acts such as Hot Chip, New Young Pony Club, Cage the Elephant and The Mighty Boosh and legendary US acts such as Devo, Pere Ubu, Sparks and The Nuggets compilation albums.

The Scratch CV currently boasts two albums (and another on the way), seven singles, an XFM session, numerous radio appearances and live supports to the likes of Noel Gallagher, The Charlatans, Paul Weller, Ian Brown and Echo and the Bunnymen.

Kicking off the year with a single 'Against the Grain' that reached number 10 in the unsigned chart and with BBC 6 airplay and a BBC 3 Counities session already in the bag 2009 is already looking exciting. '09 also sees a residency at our local venue The Horn, St.Albans. We will be playing there at bi-monthly intervals from March 27th, dates that have already tempted industry heavy weights John Robb and Goldblade (Mar 27th) and XFM DJ Clint Boon (June 5th) to sign up as headliners.

2) The Scratch are a 4-piece acoustic act from Dublin, Ireland. Born from a shared love of acoustic guitar, metal and traditional Irish music, The Scratch have moulded triumphant melodies with the groove and intensity of metal.

Started as a fun experiment in the kitchen of a house in Perrystown, Dublin, The Scratch have already built up a serious buzz in their hometown. A recent busking trip to Rory Gallagher festival in Ballyshannon saw the band score their first viral video, racking up an astonishing one million views in just a week! The video has been shared all around the world, captivating audiences of many different nationalities and catapulting The Scratch into the global consciousness.
