Artist Info

Salin

Powered by Audioscrobbler™At the age of 19, Salin Cheewapansri, mononymously known as Salin, moved to North America to pursue her dream. From her humble beginnings busking in the streets, she worked her way up to playing in clubs with artists ranging in styles from Metal and Funk to Drum & Bass, Hip-Hop & Jazz. In addition to having worked as a studio drummer on several albums, Salin has performed at numerous festivals internationally, including Jazz Festivals throughout Canada.

Her most recent achievements include a performance at the Polaris Music Awards 2019 alongside Dominique Fils-Aimé, as well as an award-winning recording on her album ‘ Stay Tuned’ which gained the title for L’ADISQ Best Jazz Album of the Year (2019) and JUNO’s Best Vocal Jazz Album of the year (2019). Salin has also been featured in several television productions with the most recent being a spot for Ford UK.

In 2021, she released her debut album “Cosmic Island,” along with a live concert video featuring a 12-piece-gender-balanced band “The Infinite Connection.” The album is laced with themes of personal reflection, environmental concerns and the current state of the world, all with the aim to give listeners an opportunity to reflect. The album has been critically acclaimed from CBC radio, Le Devoir and Earmilk to name a few.
