Andrew Morrison - February 2025
After looking back at his favourite songs from 2024 in January, and prior to that picking three hours of lifetime favourites for his November 200th show and 50th birthday special, Andy rushes headlong into a two-hour February show for "The Big Catch-Up". There was a tonne of great music released as last year was drawing to a close, and much of it is here, along with some brand new 2025 tracks. Selections come from SDH, Lambrini Girls, Envy Of None, Alison Eales, Fake Empire, Honesty, R. Missing, Samuel Organ, Melys, Andy Bell, Aphex Twin, Deary and more. You'll also hear the title track from the excellent new fourth album by previous session guests The Pony Collaboration.

Gareth Jones - February 2025
Gareth's February show takes us back to the swingin' 60s with two cuts taken from a new compilation released by Sonnyboy66 Records of obscure garage-psyche tracks.
Plus you'll hear some contemporary bands who sound like they're from the 60s, including The Sound Reasons and The Knight Shades.
Then it's back to the future as we worry about the takeover of A.I. courtesy of the new single by MJ Hibbett.
The 2nd hour sees the return of 'Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue', this time hosted by Andreas from Swedish Indiepop band Alpaca Sports to coincide with the release of their 3rd album 'Another Day' available now from Elefant Records.

Leo Gilbert - February 2025
Four thumping hours from Leo this February, and in honour of the month of romance he has studiously avoided any songs containing the word “love” in its title, though of course every single song is infused with love from Leo to each and every one of you, his adoring listeners.
At possibly the highest tune-count yet, Leo has 50, yes 50 tracks from around the globe, with very nearly half of the artists never having featured in his shows previously.
How about Soft Loft? Or My Jazzy Child? Maddie Jay, Sadie Siegel or Shop Regulars? And then there are the more familiar names, such as Max Cooper, Mogwai, IDLES and Big Blood.
Too many to mention here, so why not listen in. It's got to be worth it!

Mark Whitby - February 2025
So many great releases about, it seems only proper to try to cram as many of them into our two hours as possible, so this month's show is a bumper 31-track extravaganza featuring new albums from the likes of Horsegirl, Mogwai, Helen McCookerybook, Super Burner and Lambrini Girls, plus EPs from Manwel T, Dope on Plastic and Papa Jupe's T.C..
Our featured compilation this month has a Woolworths (yes, Woolworths) link and comes courtesy of the Jasmine label. There's a brace of great new releases from the almost unfeasibly consistent Metal Postcard, a hard-hitting demo from Serbia's Barikade, a very fine retrospective featuring Gnonnas Pedro and, naturally, we still find time to Peel Back... to what was happening 50, 40 and 30 years ago this month.

Rocker - February 2025
An hour from Rocker this month, featuring new tracks from Fucked Up; Surfing Pointers; The Nightingales; Benefits; Charm Wrestle; House Of All; and Humdrum.
There's new electronica from French producer Dylan Dylan; and Cologne-based German producer IPI.
This month's Rocker's Shellac Attack is a 1957 track from an original rock'n'roller, while this month's Educating Elizabeth record is a 1966 release played to mark the recent passing of a member of one of the greatest American soul duos.
As well as little known acts, here's a little known fact: Between 1949, when the the 7" vinyl record was introduced, and 1958, when mass production of shellac 78 rpm records ended, there was a period when many records were released on both of these formats, including, for example, many of the early rock'n'roll records.

Sean Hocking - February 2025
There are two shows from Sean this month. A regular Bottom of the Pops and a tribute to DJ Alfredo.
The Bottom of the Pops show is 4 hours this month. Too much is barely enough.
Newbies from BOTP favourites like Frog Power, Salem Trials, Retail Simp$, Delivery & System Olympia. Discoveries for me this month include Irish band The Scratch, how I hadn't come across them before I don't know. Louisiana rapper and popster Doechii who appears to be getting huge with her debut in the USA, remember way back when when Nicky Minaj was new on the block a 1000 moons ago, similar vibe but better - she's got that early OutKast irreverence about her. Also loving UK artist John Glacier.
An almost lost Ultramarine album just turned up so I play a tune off that and rather good it is too. Staying with the UK rural idyll feel I also feature another song by Plymouth outfit Blind Yeo who are the closest thing I've heard to the Beta Band in many a long while. You also get oldies from Metal Postcard act, Origami Horses, Mr Bowie, Ms Del Ray and a Pulp classic.

DJ Alfredo is credited as the grandfather of the Balearic sound somehow magically entwining Euro-pop, nascent Chicago house, indie music, 70's soft rock, Spanish flamenco guitar, and anything else he could think of into a perfect cocktail of pleasure for an all night session.
In this show I don't dare to try and recreate what he conjured but I do give you a small taste, in 2 hours, of the music that he played.

Sean Hocking Remembering DJ Alfredo - February 2025
Many many moons ago in the time of Wham, Imagination & Rolling Stones "Start Me Up" era on a sunny bohemian island in the Med only known to hippies, the international jetset and, of course Spanish holiday makers; a former journalist and rock promoter, escaping the strictures of life under the Argentinian military junta, arrived looking for a new life. By degrees he ended up as the resident dj at an open air club called Amnesia playing music to a disparate crowd of European holidaymakers, music royalty and whoever else happened to be on this secret little island called, Ibiza.
One summer some callow young Brits turned up and seduced by the heady cocktail of ecstasy, bohemia, sun and Alfredo's soundtrack they had an epiphany and returned to London with dreams for a new future in the dog days of Thatcherism. The rest they say ... is history.
Alfredo's soundtrack to their summer of love literally changed British music and youth culture overnight, catapulted unknown Chicago and Detroit clubs and dj's into the international limelight and spread around the world like wildfire. Alfredo is credited as the grandfather of the Balearic sound somehow magically entwining Euro-pop, nascent Chicago house, indie music, 70's soft rock, Spanish flamenco guitar, and anything else he could think of into a perfect cocktail of pleasure for an all night session.
In this show I don't dare to try and recreate what he conjured but I do give you a small taste, in 2 hours, of the music that he played.
That summer of 87 I happenstanced to be on the other side of the world in Sydney attending venues like the Icebox, The Exchange and Sydney's still best kept secret, the spellbinding RAT parties, who within a couple of months had also picked up on the Alfredo sound and incorporated it into the gay hi-energy music culture of the then vibrant Darlinghurst scene.
It changed the way I listened to music and it changed the way you listened to music even if you didn't know it.

X-Ray Moon - February 2025
February and X-Ray Moon is feeling a little French... and begins his show this month with Jacques Dutronc and Nicolas Repac respectively, with, galloping up the rear, Olivier Renaud.
As well as this friendly nod to our cousins across the water, X-Ray Moon also has a little Albanian folk music, and some rather extraordinary tracks from two Argentinian groups.
There's a psychedelic track from Black Market Karma from their 2024 album, and something to get our experimental teeth into with the Iranian duo 9T Antiope... as well as hell of a lot more.
All in all, X-Ray Moon's February show is an eclectic mix of old and new (mainly new) as always; And as we listen to his show, he reminds us that Spring is only just around the corner...
