Oi! from Switzerland. the inventors of Sugar Oi! are the Vanilla Muffins. the sound can be described as melodic pop punk. The title pays tribute to one of the greatest in rock and roll - Chuck Berry and influences by bands such as: The Clash[/], Angelic Upstarts or Red London. He released one of his albums under the title ÒHail Hail Rock n RollÓ. As his music was some sort of rebellion in his time, maybe Sugar Oi! is the rebellion in punk music in the new millenium. Since their debut on Helen of Oi! those 3 lads from Basel gained more and more popularity. With their regular christmas tours with Peter and The Test Tubes they were able to create a strong following in Europe. 2000 saw them on tour in the US for the first time with their friends the Generators. People on the west coast down to Mexico got the first chance to see the band in the US. For 2001 is a tour on the east coast planned. This double album releases on double CD and double LP includes all their favorites plus unreleased and new tracks. The CD version has bonus - live tracks recorded in the US and Germany. Completed with a full color 16 page booklet you can truly call this release the Vanilla Muffins essential. The superb cover artwork by Florian Huelsebusch (The Soul Boy«s guitarist) makes this one an outstanding release for all people involved (the band and the label).


Jeder der in den letzten Jahren Oi! Musik gehoert hat wir diese Musik Richtung in der Oi! Musik kennen die sich Sugar Oi! nennt. Die Erfinder dieser Musikrichtung sind die Vanilla Muffins aus Basel in der Schweiz. Den Sound kann man auch als sehr melodischen Pop Punk bezeichnen. Der Titel des Longplayers soll an einen der groessten Rock n Roller aller Zeiten erinnern - Chuck Berry. Er nannte damals sein Album "Hail Hail Rock«n«Roll". In seiner Zeit war Rock n Roll Rebellion und vielleicht ist Sugar Oi! das heute auch. Seit ihrem Debut auf Helen of Oi! wurde die Band immer populaerer, nicht zuletzt wegen Ihrer regelmaessigen Touren mit Peter and the Test Tube Babies. 2000 tourte die Band zum erstmal in den USA zusammen mit den Generators an der Westkueste runter bis Mexico. FŸr 2001 ist eine weitere US Tour geplant, diesmal an der Ostkueste. Dieses Doppel Album, veroeffentlicht auf Doppel Lp und Doppel CD enthaelt alles was man von den Vanilla Muffins kennen sollte plus einiger neuer und unveroeffentlichter Songs. Die CD enthaelt au§erdem noch einige Bonus-Live StŸcke, aufgenommen in den Staaten und Deutschland. Das ganze wird komplett durch das geniale Cover Design von Florian Huelsebusch (Gitarrist der Soul Boys) und macht diese Veroeffentlichung zu etwas besonderen fuer alle Beteiligten.
