Turkish Delight

Turkish Delight

Powered by Audioscrobbler™There are four bands by the name of Turkish Delight:

1) Turkish Delight were an experimental rock band from Boston, MA that formed in 1994. They blended the chanteuse vocals of Leah Callahan with guitars, drums and the "electric can," a home-made, electric bass-like instrument made from a bucket, a pole, and strings. Their first single, "Try Harder" was released on 7" by Prude records in 1995. Their debut album Tommy Bell (Castle Von Buhler 1996) was a success for the label. The album featured the 7" single "Spin" and compiled earlier material as bonus tracks. "Spin" was included in CMJ Monthly in their free issue CD. The band toured the US and gained a dedicated local following.

The band split and then released Howcha Magowcha (Archenemy, 1998). The band performed one home town show in support of the album, giving away a live CD simply titled "LIVE" with purchase of the album. The live album compiled performances in NYC and Cambridge and contained un-released track "Tower," plus covers of "The Voyage of the Man," and "Fairies Wear Boots." Half of the band then joined Betwixt and released the single Lucky 13 (Castle von Buhler) and the album Moustache (Archenemy).

2) Turkish Delight is an independent/psychedelic rock band formed in Long Beach, CA in 1996. They recently got back together to play their first show in over four years. The current lineup includes Lance Whitson: vocals and guitar, Philip Hunter: guitar, Michael Gonzales: bass and Rob Fadtke: drums.

Free tracks can be downloaded here or from their MySpace page, www.myspace.com/trkshdlght.

3) There also was the project of Orhan Seyfi Çelik, a Turkish musician living in Germany. He combined rock and punk with influences from Turkish music. He released one album compiling recordings from 1987, 1988 and 1989.

4) A two man US experimental/alternative metal project.
