Powered by Audioscrobbler™Naing Naing is the name under which François L'H., guitarist of Tear of a Doll and formerly of Heimat-los) produces eclectic music based on the assumption that any sound can become a musical instrument through digital processing. The most experimental part of his work consists in producing whole songs from a unique source of sound that is turned into drums, bass line and melodies. The "concrete pop" aesthetics also allows Naing Naing to succesfully merge music styles that are alien to each other such as musique concrete and hardcore punk or musique concrete and gamelan or blues and so on. Naing Naing eschews the quantization almost inherent to electronic music by reproducing painstakingly musical parts that he first performed on a real instrument usually guitar and tabla.

In his live performances Naing Naing mostly uses a MIDI guitar to trigger both melodic concrete sounds and rythmic patterns. He also occasionally plays real guitar over a backing track entirely made of concrete sounds, although instruments like guitar (and especially synthetizer) were banned from his debut album. Miss Maya, singer of Tear or a Doll sings some tracks of his live set.

Some of the sounds used by Naing Naing as musical instruments include: frogs & toads, ice cubes in a glass, toothbrushing, diesel generator, crickets, bird calls, washing machine, wasp buzz, whip, duck & goose, pig, dog, sheep and many other animal sounds, dentist drill, pneumatic drill, wind, rain, eating an apple, clock, trains...

François aka Naing Naing has collaborated with several artists : he appears on records by Costes, Cosmic Wurst and Wide Open Cage.

A NN live album recorded in France was released in 2011 by US-based Sleepy Mammal Sounds Records.

Naing Naing has announced the release of two new albums "EF1" and "EF2".
