Johanna M. Beyer  Johanna Magdalena Beyer Born in 1888 in Leipzig, Germany. Died 1944 in New York. A composer, musicologist, pianist and pedagogue.The German-American artist, was initially trained in Germany, studied after emigration to the U.S., where she worked until the day she died as a piano teacher and composer. Johanna Beyer was a composer who defies all too solid description. The musicologist Larry Polansky she believes is a composer of high rank. They have belonged to the first American composers to experiment with electronic music and written for percussion ensemble. On the whole it was based heavily on that atonal style as it was characteristic of the New York group led by Henry Cowell and the others belonged to Ruth Crawford Seeger. It is Beyer's original German background always recognizable, although they also tried to include musical currents of direct and to transform themselves stylistically. The music science is still inconclusive on the evaluation of this composer, but also to the present, very few works. To what extent the simplicity of their compositions each have a sovereign musical decision back, or even - in part - could be due a certain craft uncertainty still requires investigation.
