Powered by Audioscrobbler™We, Di Nigunim are an Anarcho-Klezmer Punk band. We are have no political agenda, but we try to do our part when we see a positive opportunity and direction to head in. We can't offer universal answers; the left wing compass is different various places around the world, localities demand attention. We are however, really proud to have played a benefit for No Borders Camp of Mexicali/Calexico 2007, the protest shows at both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions during our Duocracy Tour with Blackbird RAUM in 2008, the Todos Somos Illegales tour with our lovers Eskera in 2009, SD Pirate Radio, a whole lot of Food Not Bombs stuff, band members have been involved in protests against occupation and the awful wall while in Israel/Palestine, the ridiculous party for the rich at the expense of the environment, first peoples' rights, and the poor of in Vancouver B.C., aka the Olympics. We basically support all forms of protest that oppose, disrupt or smash our fascist corporatocarcy, war machine, racism of all types, homophobia and other intolerant plagues, whether it tears at the roots of the system, or helps the victim of domestic abuse in your neighborhood take back her freedom.

We love music, it's so much fun, but we know that life can never be truly fulfilling for us while our sacred earth is being plundered (animal agriculture, damning, Alberta tar sands...), the monstrous military industrial complex continues its deadly love affair (Iraq, Afghanistan, washing group int., dyncorp, the federal and state governments...) private armies (Blackwater is terror...) and spy agencies that function lawlessly to perpetuate absurd nation-state hostilities, we terrorize and murder our stream, lake and ocean life (naval active sonar obliterating mammals hearing (i.e. future (not knowing which direction is up to take a breath, suicide after separation from migrating family), Obama's secretary of science is Steven Koonin, former chief scientist of BP (please, at least boycott exxon, chevron, and bp (arco) and try even to stop driving all together), our country has 25% of the world's prisoners (that's 1 of every 32, 2.5 million incarcerated , 70% are people of color), here in California we spend $11 billion a year on prisons, with 24,000 people serving life sentences, and 680 on death row, the state involvement in personal relations (divorce the state and marriage (especially religous marriage)). Our band doesn't feel good about wage slavery, oil subsidies, wall street bailouts, culture-killing crackdown on house and d.i.y. shows, expensive public transport, Oscar Grant, Stanley Tookie Williams, Marie Mason, Mass Media, Eric McDavid, Leonard Peltier, Mumia Abu-Jamal, Maher Arar, drones, tasers, san diego military presence, the pigs in our hometown, and you all know I could go on lamenting the depressing devastation by our species, but playing music to promote positive lifestyle changes and raising consciousness is outlet that makes us feel a little bit better. It's our future if we want it! Please feel free to contact us for anything, o reuniremos a las barricadas! Up the Punx!- Di Nigunim
