Bilk

Powered by Audioscrobbler™There are at least three bands named Bilk:

1. an indie/punk band from Essex, U.K. (début: 2018)
2. a band from Zagreb, Croatia
3. a 'neo-Neue Deutsche Welle' band from Berlin, Germany

1. The raw and real sounds of the trio Bilk (from Essex, United Kingdom) sets new standard for guitar music in England with a unique blend of indie, rap and punk. First singles (2018): 'Give Up' and 'Spiked'.

2. BILK were formed in Zagreb, Croatia in 1999. The line-up was unstable for years, until it got reduced to the steady and dedicated base: Tin Oberman, Janko Novoselic, Luka Vrbanic are young students of architecture, music and medicine and they use their crafts and gifts fully, building their sound with surgery precision.

With people joining and leaving the band, BILK went through many phases and music styles and this experience broadened their musical horizons. They recorded a few demos, played many shows and appeared on some music competitions like the Heineken Music Fest Live (2003) in Travnik and Zenica, BIH where they simply came and won and the Newcomer 2005 festival in Graz, Austria where they also made first prize.

Soon thereafter Mr. Moonlee proposed them a record deal. BILK went to the legendary Kozmo Studio in Zagreb and recorded their debut album called This Bilk is Radioactive which was released by Moonlee Records with Marko Pelaic as producer.

Their heuristic approach enabled them to produce a brilliant album featuring a sound unheard in this area before. The groove, coming out of their drums, bass, synthesizers and guitar is built from various music styles melted into a breakbeat mass of pure positive energy, melodies and beats.

3. Bilk from Berlin, Germany, find themselves in a triangle between punk, rock and pop, where a little influence of the 80th century music, especially the Neue Deutsche Welle' (NDW), which can't (and won't) be denied and they consider with a critical view what is important in the world: life, love and the passion with wich things can be done and unfairness wich cannot be overlooked.

They present their knowledge in a wide range from loud and rough to harmonic and pensive in their native tongue without falling into the trap of presenting trash or phrasemongering. Their language is straight and cheeky - probably mostly because of their "Berliner Schnauze" (cheeky way of speaking in Berlin).
